We've invested $500K+ in AI initiatives this year and the board wants to see ROI. The problem is that the standard metrics (time saved, accuracy improved) feel hand-wavy and the real impact is hard to isolate. I need a measurement framework that produces credible, defensible ROI numbers for our AI investments.
Plan for: Measure Real AI ROI - Beyond the Hype Metrics
Historical baseline data may be incomplete or missing, making it hard to prove a 'before and after' difference.
Use industry benchmarks as a secondary baseline, or extrapolate a baseline from a non-AI-enabled control group within the company if historical data is poor.
Department heads might disagree with the financial proxies used to measure their team's performance.
Involve them early in Step 3 (Defining Proxies) so they co-create the metrics and feel ownership over the results.
